Hello, I'm Dave Payne and this site was created to blog about my learning of the new field I'm taking on Information Technology. This is the first step of a new career, and I'm taking my first college class in over a decade. The class is Computer Hardware and Software Management. My career has been in voice and data telephony circuits over RF transmission and reception. The industry has already begun the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) vs the old analog equipment I learned on. I have very little experience with computers and IP systems. I look forward to learning computer hardware, software and computer processing equipment. I'm interested in learning to set up a back-up cloud type storage and home virtual private networks (VPN) in my home that I can access files from any location.
